The Food and Nutrition Services Program (once referred to as Food Stamps) helps low-income households with monthly food expenses and allows these households to buy the food they need for a nutritionally adequate diet. The purpose of Food and Nutrition Services is to end hunger and improve nutrition and health in Wake County.
Apply for Medicaid
Medicaid is a health insurance program that serves children, adults and families. Family and Children's Medicaid covers children, parents, pregnant women and family planning services. Adult Medicaid covers aged, blind and disabled individuals.
Public Health Clinics
Wake County Public Health provides the following health care clinics for children and adults: Children’s Clinic, Dental Clinic, HIV Clinic & Services, Immunizations, Prenatal Clinic, Pharmacy, Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic, Tuberculosis Clinic and Women’s Health Clinic.
Seasonal Programs
Seasonal programs brighten the holidays for children and seniors in need by matching them with community sponsors who provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals or gifts. The program provides an opportunity for a personal relationship between the sponsor and the receiving family.
Women, Infants & Children (WIC)
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides healthy foods, nutrition and breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and community services. WIC serves babies and children up to age five, pregnant women, and new mothers. All caretakers of young children and working families are welcome at WIC!
