Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), also called secondary units, in-law units, granny suites or cottages, are units added to existing and new residential buildings. ADUs are intended to be an "accessory" to the main house. ADUs include their own kitchen, bedroom and bathroom facilities.

Adding an ADU to your property can offer several benefits, such as providing housing for family members, simplifying your lifestyle and increased financial flexibility. ADUs are also a great option for creating affordable housing in your neighborhood, which is important as the housing market becomes less accessible for many residents.

For more detailed plan direction we advise that you hire a designer, licensed architect or engineer to design the ADU and a licensed contractor to build it; some companies provide both or provide prefabricated units.
