Wake County Fire Services issues all mandatory special function permits, such as blasting, pyrotechnics/fireworks, underground storage tank removal and tents. Applications can be submitted online at the Permit Portal.

The following forms are required to be completed and uploaded during the online application process when applying for pyrotechnics permits:

Note: Raleigh-Durham International Airport now requires a Height Zoning (HZO) permit for any pyrotechnics show that is proposed within their aircraft approach plan.

Wake County Fire Services issues all mandatory permits as required pursuant to Section 105 of the NC Fire Prevention Code for blasting, underground storage tank removal and tents within all the unincorporated areas of Wake County and the municipalities of Rolesville and Wendell. Please allow five business days for processing.
Wake County Fire Services also issues the Mandatory Operational Permit for Pyrotechnics as required pursuant to Section 105 of the NC Fire Prevention Code and NCGS Chapter 14 Article 54 in all of Wake County, except for the municipal limits of the City of Raleigh, and property owned by UNC and NCSU.
Please allow a minimum of 15 business days for the processing of pyrotechnics permits.
