Wake County Animal Center launches “Home for the Holidays” campaign

This holiday season, make a shelter pet’s wish come true by giving them a warm, loving home. The Wake County Animal Center kicks off the “Home for the Holidays” adoption campaign from Dec. 1–22. During this time, you can welcome a furry friend for a special adoption fee of just $25 for dogs and $5 for cats.

“Join us in creating heartwarming holiday stories by opening your home to a shelter pet or supporting the center’s mission through donations,” said Wake County Commissioner Cheryl Stallings. “This season, let’s make sure every pet has a home for the holidays.”

Currently, there are 98 dogs, three puppies, 23 cats and 16 kittens waiting to meet their forever families. Another 39 dogs, 13 cats and 17 kittens are at foster homes ready for adoption. Every pet adopted from the Wake County Animal Center is spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines, helping you save on vet bills while gaining a new best friend!

For those unable to adopt, there are still impactful ways to help shelter animals during the campaign:

  • Donate to the Wish List: The Animal Center has created a special holiday wish list featuring essential items, like blankets, toys and food, to help make the animals’ stay more comfortable.
  • Monetary Donations: Contributions of any amount go directly toward the care and well-being of the animals, including medical treatments, shelter improvements, and enrichment activities.

“Whether you adopt, donate or simply spread the word, you’re helping make this season brighter for animals in need,” said Dr. Jennifer Federico, director of the Wake County Animal Center. “Let’s give every pet the gift of love and belonging!”
